The preliminary report by Panel reviewing the mandate of the Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO) and the Deposit Insurance Corporation of Ontario (DICO) has been made public by the Ministry of Finance. Panel members are George Cooke, Lawrence Ritchie and James Daw.

Hammerson) deciding if a case which settled the day before trail for an amount in the Small Claims Court jurisdiction was reasonably brought in Supreme Court. The decision was relevant as the Plaintiff’s entitled to Supreme Court Costs rested on the outcome.

Rights breached: OMA
Alan Hudak, a local pediatrician who chairs the Ontario Medical Association (OMA) board, said the OMA had to file a court challenge under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms against the province.”They’re proceeding on their own agenda and are refusing to talk to physicians,” he said, adding there is currently no mechanism in place that would allow doctors to negotiate with the province.
Ontario psychologists claim WSIB unfairly denying patient claims
A group of Ontario psychologists say their patients are being unfairly denied workers’ compensation.
They say that the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board of Ontario (WSIB) has been cutting workers’ compensation claims in order to pay off its deficit. To do that, the psychologists say the board is getting other doctors to overrule their conclusions about their patients’ fitness to return to work.
More cash arrives for Ontario Works recipients
Since 2003, Ontario has increased social assistance rates by 18.3 per cent for families who access Ontario Works, by 29 per cent for singles with children who access Ontario Works and by 18.3 per cent for people with disabilities who receive Ontario Disability Support Program payments.
