As a result of Phase 2 of our Transparency initiative, when the CPSO requires an Ontario doctor to undergo a Specified Continuing Education or Remediation Program (SCERP)1, which is generally done in a moderate-to-high risk situation, the SCERP is published on the doctor’s profile on ourPublic Register. However, this currently applies to SCERPs arising from our Inquiries, Complaints, & Reports Committee (ICRC) only. It does not apply to those arising from our Quality Assurance (QA) Committee.

TORONTO – Ontario Finance Minister Charles Sousa is launching pre-budget consultations as the world’s markets shudder and shake.
Despite this, Sousa said Tuesday that he believes Ontario will still see 2% GDP growth this year and lead the country through the storm.

“Fraud is a crime of deception,” said Rick Dubin, Vice-President of Investigative Services at IBC. “When undetected, fraudulent claims are paid using the premiums of honest policyholders. Your best defence against insurance fraud is a good offence. Be educated and aware, as fraudsters can easily take advantage of unsuspecting consumers.”
As of Jan. 1, the Ontario government requires all insurers to offer a discount for motorists who have approved snow or winter tires. Although about 20 of the 50 companies already offered the benefit, the rest are being forced into the fold.

A Traumatic Brain Injury or “TBI” occurs when a sudden trauma causes damage to the brain (TBI may also be referred to as an Acquired Brain Injury or Intracranial Injury). TBIs can occur as a result of impact to the head or movements that cause the head and brain to move rapidly back and forth. TBIs can be caused by car accidents, slip-and-fall injuries or sporting injuries. For example, a car accident victim who did not hit his head may still have suffered a TBI when his body was thrown forward from the force of the collision, and then jerked back by his seatbelt.

Within the next five years, Canadians will be commuting and travelling in autonomous vehicles, with most predicting the first models will arrive before 2017 and full autonomy will be achieved by 2025. However, while the benefits of driver-less vehicles are myriad, there are still problems to address according to one of the leading names in the development of the technology.
