Operating in the new regime effective December 1, 2014

On December 1, 2014, service providers licensed by the Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO) will continue to conduct business in the same fashion.
Licensed service providers will continue to submit all forms through HCAI for goods and services provided on and after December 1st. And, licensed service providers will continue to be paid directly by insurers.

AllState Says Rate Of Accident Claims Is Highest In Ottawa

The Dangers of Non-Lawyer Owned Law Firms

This is a question that the Law Society of Upper Canada (“LSUC”) is currently grappling with. The LSUC, which regulates the provision of legal services in Ontario, is considering whether or not to allow non-lawyers to own a majority control of a law firm. Currently, only lawyers and licensed paralegals are permitted to have an ownership interest in law firms in Ontario. This could soon change.

Allstate Canada data reveals December is the worst month for collisions

TORONTODec. 2, 2014 /CNW/ – The annual Allstate Insurance Company of Canada Safe Driving Study, released today, reveals that the days leading up to the holidays, December 21, 22 and 23, had the highest number of collision claims.  While December 25 (1,095) and January 1(1,414), had the lowest number of collision claims.  The study, which examines the frequency of customers’ collision claims in AlbertaNew BrunswickNova Scotia and Ontario, shows that December 21 had the highest number of collision claims (3,150), followed by December 23(3,108) andDecember 22 (3,082).
